Summary: This webinar deeply reflects on the practitioner’s practice and offers strategies when working with children, youth and families.
As Child and Youth Care Practitioners, we work in diverse settings providing relational care to Children, Youth, and their families. We are often a support person to one’s life space journey. Please join us for this live and interactive webinar.
By the end of this Cultural Safety Training, students will have the understanding to utilize their professional networks to continue to seek or advocate for feedback and debrief when working with children, youth, and their families from diverse cultures, beliefs, and traditions. Students will be able to accomplish and understand Cultural Safety by participating in discussions and knowledge assessment activities and providing personal/ professional examples on Cultural Safety.
1. Reflect and assess their own identities, privileges, and biases when engaging with children, youth, and families from diverse cultures, beliefs, and traditions
2. Define the difference between Cultural Competency, Cultural Humility, and Cultural Safety
3. Observe the importance of creating a self-reflective/ feedback routine when supporting Children, Youth, and Families from diverse cultures, beliefs, and traditions.
4. Understand the value of CYC Professional Ethics in response to Cultural Safety

OUR PRESENTER – Marleigh Pirnasar, M.Ed, CYC-P
Marleigh Pirnasar has been a Child and Youth Care Practitioner for over 10 years supporting children, youth, and families within community-based, mental health, residential, and school-based positions.
Over the past couple of years, she has had a passion for empowering Child and Youth Care Practitioners by advocating for more knowledge mobilization and community practice opportunities in order to improve frontline capacity. Marleigh is currently a Wraparound Facilitator supporting Children, Youth, and Families at Lumenus Community Services(formerly known as Skylark) in Toronto.
